The Unknown Face

FF, Paris

More Info

To mark the centenary of the Armistice of 11 November 1918, which ended fighting on land, sea and air in World War I between the Allies and Germany, a composite image symbolizing peace was created using “leap motion” technology. “The Unknown Face” is a synthesis of a multitude of faces – of lives carried away by the devastations of the Great War. By thus “bringing to life” the long lists of names we usually only see on war memorials, the project is designed to help us remember, understand, forgive, and hope in times of war and death.

Björn Ståhl: “History and hi-tech in perfect harmony in this beautifully crafted story about all the anonymous deaths in WW1. We’ve seen some great campaigns about this war before, i.e. the wonderful Mud Soldier. This one is up there among the best.”
