Lürzer’s best holiday ads 2024

Now that we’ve sat back and watched all the holiday ads play before our eyes it’s time for the prize(s), and this year it’s a festive dozen.

Loewe provided an artful dose of whimsy that celebrated handmade craft, the polar opposite of the AI horrors that the surreal Zevia ad poked fun at.

We don’t have time for needless tearjerkers or heavily laid-on messages here, but the performances and nuance in the Chevrolet, Deutsche Telekom and Shelter spots were tenderly and effectively done. Well-known actors in Waitrose’s Sweet Suspicion and a killer plot also brought home the bacon, even if it relied on us already knowing their characters from their other roles.

We were amused by Fussy Deodorant’s offbeat twist, showing the kind of unconventional marriage model that a disruptive deodorant brand’s customer might want to hide from their children.

The Australians gave us two good demonstrations of their humor, the Norwegian Postal Service’s mock doc of an egomaniacal celebrity Rudolf felt like an instant classic, and what’s not to like about a remake of Wham’s Last Christmas, only starring a hamster? Especially when it features a cameo appearance from Andrew Ridgeley.
