As a live performance of Beethoven’s 7th gets underway, 17 on-stage
printers print out 70 pages of sheet music for all members of the
orchestra in real time, special codes being used to trigger individual
printers. If even one printer were to jam, says the conductor, the show
would be over. As one might expect, however, the reliable Canon printers
get the job done.
Eduardo Marques: “Canon’s Printers in Concert uses technology in an
innovative way that hits different and important points. The first one, I
believe, is entertainment. It’s Beethoven’s symphony conducted by printers,
and just this premise makes me want to stop, watch, and know how it
was done. And then it makes me think about something that is never
in the spotlight: office printers. Let’s be honest, we only pay attention
to printers when they jam. So this idea highlights the only benefit that
really matters: a seamless performance.”
