About Rankings

The Lürzer’s Archive Rankings show the most successful creatives and creative companies who have had their work featured in the publication, from last year to over the past 40 years. The Rankings enable you to search by individual disciplines or company, geography and year.

Our default setting is to present the last three years’ view. However, you can choose any year, or five years, ten years and all-time. The Rankings provide a fascinating insight into who is performing strongest in getting their submissions featured in the publication (and, with changes to our Submission system in 2024 … there’s a whole new impetus and opportunities to get ranked and revered).

All work that is accepted into the online archive accrues points (it may also appear in the magazine, or gets featured online, or has been in 200best books). The points are given to all credited individuals and companies. Besides the award of being selected for a new piece of work, this selection enables individuals and companies to build their own Profile of content within Lürzer’s Archive site and to gain other promotional opportunities with L[A].  Here’s how the points are added:

One point is awarded for a credit for every piece of Archive work.

For books, we award 1.5 points for appearing in the publication, in the year it is published. You may have ten items of work published, or just one. We will award you the same for that book.

If you select ‘All Time’, or last three, five or 10 years, then a scaling calculation is applied to the Rankings table. Three and five-year views show all work from the past whole three or five years, plus any work published in the current year.

For every year that passes, an algorithm is applied that ‘ages’ the older points. Thereby older selections are valued less and less, albeit still significant. Our objective is help bring attention to those who are creatively active and performing strongly now, rather than have the tables over-weighted by historic performance. It is still entirely possible, of course, to select a single past year and highlight who was performing then.

We’re always open to questions and comments about the Rankings. It really is a work-in-progress! Just contact us.
