The Southern Comfort guy is back and this time he's giving weather reports - comfortably...
Moustache, sun-kissed belly and form-fitting trunks; you may recognised this guy who strolled down the beach – comfortably – from a spot for Southern Comfort. The ad featured as our Spot of the Week 2012/33 (as well as the alcoholic beverage pages of Lürzer’s Archive Volume 5/2012) and was Wieden + Kennedy, New York’s first work for the American liqueur brand, as part of their “Whatever’s Comfortable” campaign.
Set once again to the song “Hit or Miss” by American folk artist Odetta, the “Southern Comfort Guy” returns for the next instalment of the campaign – as a weather guy.
The new spot features our laid back friend against a backdrop of all sorts of extreme weather conditions – from, strong winds to snow storms and torrential rain. It points to the newly launched “Comfortable Weather Guy” website, which is accessible via desktop, mobile and tablet.
Users can sign up for weather alerts and have their local weather delivered by the Southern Comfort guy on a daily basis. The site, produced by Rabbit Content, picks up on your location so if it’s raining on Weather Guy, then it’s likely it is raining where you are – brought to you by what the campaign has dubbed as “the most comfortable weather reports, ever”.

If it’s sweltering where you are, expect him to be making himself more comfortable by ribbing ice cubes over himself. In a climate of hailstones he will make the most of it by collecting the ice for his class of liqueor.
