Biography

Tim Tadder saw the world through a lens of curiosity and creativity from a young age. Born in Baltimore in 1972, he was drawn to the magic of photography by his father, who had both black-and-white and color darkrooms. This early exposure to the art of capturing moments shaped his future. Tadder pursued his passion for photography while earning a BS in Mathematics. After graduating, he moved to Ecuador to teach, capturing the rugged beauty of the Andes with his camera. It was there, amidst the peaks and valleys, that he realized the profound impact of his images and decided to return to Baltimore to pursue a career in photography.

Tadder's work is characterized by its bold and dynamic style. His use of dramatic lighting and vivid colors set his images apart, much like the bold strokes of an artist’s brush. Projects like "Water Wigs" showcased his innovative approach, using high-speed photography to capture water balloons exploding on bald heads, creating surreal and intricate "wigs" of water. This project pushed the boundaries of conventional photography, always seeking new ways to surprise and engage viewers. His images are striking and impossible to ignore, blending technical prowess with creative vision

He worked with major brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Coca-Cola, capturing the intensity and spirit of athletes and celebrities. His photographs graced the covers of prominent magazines and were featured in numerous exhibitions. Yet, his work went beyond commercial success. Tadder had a knack for conveying deep emotion and telling compelling stories. His project "United States of Purple" was a powerful commentary on political division in America, blending red and blue paint to create unified portraits symbolizing hope and unity.

Tim Tadder stays relevant by continually adapting and embracing new projects. He explores various themes and techniques, always pushing the boundaries of his craft. His series "Nothing to See" and "Black is a Color" are testaments to his ability to address contemporary issues through his art. Tadder's dedication to personal projects keeps his work fresh and impactful, allowing him to delve deeper into storytelling and visual expression. Living and working in Southern California, Tim Tadder continues to push the limits of what photography can achieve, inspiring and influencing the world of visual arts.

No matches have been found, but this doesn’t mean the work you are looking for is not in the archive. Please use these tips to improve your search results:

  • Use a single search term in the search bar, and then use the filters on the left hand side to refine the results further. For example, if you are searching for Heinz adverts from a particular agency, search for either Heinz or the agency in the search bar, and then select the client (Heinz) or the agency with the filters.
  • You can refine with further filters, such as photographer or country
  • You can also search within magazines or books by first selecting the publication from the two dropdowns above, and then entering your search term
  • Lürzer's Archive contains thousands of adverts going back four decades. All the data for this work has been added by our users, and over time brands and agencies may have changed their names, or work may have been entered under a range of client names - for example, VW could also have been added as Volkswagen. So it is worth trying a range of spellings, as well as widening your definitions and trying different search terms.

We are continuously trying to improve our search so please contact us with any feedback.
