More Info

The blank space normally left when an ad or banner is blocked was made available to Amnesty International by Adblock on March 12, World Day Against Cyber Censorship, to draw attention to the issue of web censorship and celebrated free speech advocates such as Edward Snowden and Ai Weiwei.

Aden Hepburn: “I think this was a great play from Amnesty, not only because they convinced Adblocker to replace the blocked space with an ad but because it gave the very people that governments want to censor, like Edward Snowden, a voice.”
