This is the follow-up to the spot for the
Dove Self-Esteem Fund, which won the
Grand Prix in Cannes in 2007. This time,
we see a little redheaded girl with freckles
staring into the camera with a happy, innocent
look on her face. She is then swamped
by a flood of advertising and other images,
all confronting her with the same message:
look like the slim, sexy, lingerie-clad models
and you will have a fulfilled and pleasurable
life. From flawless faces in front of
jars of cosmetics through to slimming pills,
from a self-destructive fitness mania
through to cosmetic surgery – and straight
on through to bulimia. Tagline: “Talk to
your daughter before the beauty industry
does.”
