‘Silent Night’: a cinematically-shot account of the writing and first performance of the now famous Christmas carol Silent Night, and its subsequent development since its composition in the winter of 1818: In 1822 a choir performed it in front of the Austrian Emperor, in 1906 it was played on the violin during the first radio broadcast, and in World War I German and British soldiers sang it together on the western front in a brief moment of peace. It even reached space: in 1973 it was transmitted to Skylab 4. Today, Silent Night is the most recorded song in history, with over 130k versions in 300 languages.
