A spot from the furniture chain introducing its new “Place” AR app. So what exactly can the app do? Well, it can help people imagine what a new item from Ikea would look like in their home by placing it there – or moving it to a better spot if necessary. And what does one need to use it? Just a cell phone photo of the room, on top of which the item is superimposed. The app, it is claimed, puts an end to furniture you can’t even get into the room – and endless fiddling around with pencils and tape measures.
