Ikea “Salesmen”, “Deliveryman” [01:00] & “Kids” [00:30]# In the first two spots of this campaign launching Ikea furniture stores in the U.S we get an explanation why Ikea do not employ salesmen or deliverymen. We are treated to a series of salesmen trying to peddle their wares. “Do you want to pay for these guys?” a written sentence asks the viewers. “Do you want to pay for these guys?” a written sentence asks the viewers. You know what you want,” goes another. The deliverymen, letting the viewer in on some tales from their work are also bad news. Sometimes a delivery can take up to four weeks, in particularly unfortunate circumstances “even years.” Again, handwritten boards comment ironically on the deliverymen’s statements, telling the viewer that he doesn’t want to pay for people like that, since he can bring home the purchased furniture very well himself. Stylistically, “Kids” is done in the same fashion, except this time various little children five voice to their marked distaste for furniture shopping. Ikea have special playgrounds where the kids can occupy themselves while their parents shop.
