Jeffrey Bernard is a British columnist famous for his excessive drinking. Whenever, as a result of his alcoholic bouts, his articles were not ready in time, the paper printed a brief note stating, “Jeffrey Bernard is unwell”. This also became the title of a play on Jeffrey Bernard which opened last year in London´s West End starring Peter O´Toole in the role of the infamous lush.
