Phileas Fogg “Route 66” + “Punjab Airways” [00:30]# Typically American scenery and people alternate with an itinerary that follows the famous Route 66. The song that celebrates this highway plays on the soundtrack. There is a sudden change of course, however, when the arrow on the road map swerves off and back east all the way to the little English town of Consett where Phileas Fogg California potato chips are produced. Which is why the song’s lyrics have been changed to “Get your chips on Route 66,” referring to the number of the local bus that services Medomsley Road. The second spot for Phileas Fogg chips starts off like an Indian commercial for something called “Punjab Airlines,” where passengers can “luxuriate in sumptuous Maharaja class.” The only destination their fleet of planes flies to is – as it turns out -Consett, “the cultural center of Europe,” where the best Punjab curry chips are produced.
