After a sold-out run at the New York Theatre Workshop, the musical “Sing Street” was set to make its Broadway debut, however that had to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless they managed to unite online for a one-night benefit performance.
Tiffany Rolfe: “Broadway theaters were closed, but that didn’t stop the cast of Sing Street, a musical that was set to premiere March 26, from having the show go on. After realizing it wouldn’t make its debut, they created a revue of the film’s songs and story to be performed on Facebook LIVE from cast members’ homes scattered around the United States and the globe. While it wasn’t the exact show, it presented human stories and gave an inside peek of what the show was about. Performers got creative, using Zoom face filters to add a bit more ‘production value’.”
