Southwark Council Anti Gun Crime “Sunday
Lunch” (01:00) #
The concept has been done before often
enough and goes something like “If you
fail to get involved when witnessing a
crime, you yourself become guilty – so
you’d better lend a hand.” In this spot for
the Crimestoppers organization, however,
the execution is so well done, so convincingly
realistic, that it might well be the
most successful of the lot. We meet a nice
black (apparently fatherless) family of six
at breakfast, the kids’ ages ranging from
around 6 to 20. At one point, the mother
stops serving food to her children to pull
out a gun and blow one of her kid’s
brains out. Super: “If you keep quiet
about gun crime, it’s like pulling the trigger
yourself.”
