Stat-Oil “Oil-Fill” & “Tourist Bus” [00:30]# A rather tetchy American tourist in Scandinavia has his car topped up by a mechanic. He asks him what oil he’s using. The answer is “Lazer Way,” a Scandinavian oil, we learn. Why do they call it “Lazer Way” then, the grouchy tourist wants to know. “So we sell more of it,” is the mechanic’s reply. In the second spot a tour guide is faithfully pointing out the sights to a busload of American tourists who couldn’t care less. Only when the bus drives by a McDonald’s or a 7-Eleven store do they give their roaring approval. When the tourists learn that the bus has to stop for a refill at the nearest Stat-Oil gas station, they want to know whether Stat-Oil is an American company. When the tour guide quickly confirms this, they are overjoyed. Pay-off: “Stat-Oil. The Scandinavian gas company.”
