“Black Woman” + “Nerds” [00:30]# In this campaign people are subjected to a “blind test” where they tell the interviewer what they “see” when chewing Stimorol as compared to another chewing gum brand. Taking a nosedive into the swamp of political incorrectness, the first commercial features a tart black woman who starts singing “I Can See Clearly Now the Rain Has Gone,” as soon as Stimorol chewing gum comes into contact with her taste buds. The Beavis and Butthead-type guys in the second spot see “woman” when they taste brand X, and “more women” with Stimorol, so they are not a lot of help. “See for yourself” is the somewhat resigned pay-off.
