A campaign that communicates about an application that prevents cyberbullying on WhatsApp, which uses encryption to secure the content of its messages, which also hides cyberbullying. WhatsApp’s encryption technology makes it easy for bullies to terrorise people through the app. However, now this behaviour can be reported via the Terms Against Bullying tool and be processed by mobile networks. There should be more projects like this.

Matei Curtasu: “This is fairly new – it’s a platform created with several universities in Portugal to report abuses committed on WhatsApp, which then links your number to your phone operator’s T&Cs and could be used to cancel your contract. Although cyberbullying is a topic that goes beyond WhatsApp messages, at least it’s a start, and I’m curious to see how the project evolves.”
