“Taxi Driver” + “Cake” [01:00]#
“The big Issue” is a magazine sold by homeless people in the cities of England. This fact, however, is referred to only passingly in these commercials, which focus on the detailed listing of events to be found in the magazine. “Taxi Driver” is a spoof of the famous movie of the same name and shows an Asian mini cab driver bemoaning the decadence of big cities. If he’d read “The Big Issue” he’d also find some things to enjoy about city life. In “Cake,” a woman rejects cake making and the country for the buzz of the city. Again. “The Big Issue” is crucial to her discovery of urban pleasures.
