More Info

“Ducks”, “Aliens” + “Theft” [00:30]# They Mystic Lake Casino in Minneapolis continues its campaign with the encouraging payoff, “You’re luckier than you think,” though this time we don’t have to deem ourselves lucky because, but for the grace of God, we didn’t come into the world as the weird animals presented in the previous series of spots. This time, we are treated to three animated commercials. In the first we see a role reversal. Ducks try to attract people by shouting things like “ice-cold” beer,” and when a human shows his head above the reeds, they open fire. “Ducks are not carnivores,” we are assured at the end. “You’re luckier than you think.” The second spot, purportedly based on a true story, shows the abduction of a human by an extraterrestrial. He swallows the poor guy who has been sitting in a canoe mumbling sweet nothings to a girl. But the extraterrestrial is so appalled by the way the guy tastes that he vomits him out. The third spot tells Minnesotans how lucky they are not to live in sun-drenched California. While a car thief in Los Angeles has no trouble getting away with the stolen car, the icy winter of Minnesota has him sitting in the car, the icy winter of Minnesota has him sitting in the car he’s just broken into, vainly trying to get it started.
