Umweltschutz “Waschmittel” & “Treibgas” [00:30]# Two animated spots by the Austrian Ministry of Environment. Each time the screen appears divided in a black and white half. In “Waschmittel” (detergent), while the white half slowly fills with cartoon soap bubbles, a female voice with Viennese accent complains. “You say I’m overdosing the detergent? Ridiculous. You should have a look at how much my neighbor uses.” Then the black half also starts to fill up with soap bubbles, and another female voice repeats the very same words we’ve just heard. In “Spray”, a spray can is merrily spraying while a female voice says: “If they didn’t sell those aerosol sprays, I wouldn’t buy them.” Then a spray can appears in the black half and a male voice is heard, saying: “If people didn’t buy these aerosol sprays, I wouldn’t sell them.” The camera then pulls back and a whole bunch of cans are spraying and thus, presumably, doing their part in the destruction of the ozone layer. In a green superimposed black is written the message: Either destruction of our environment. Or environmental protection.
