Harp “Lizard” [00:15], “Date Mate” [00:45], “Gold Blend Spoof” [00:40]#
The TV campaign for Harp’s beer illustrates the slogan “Time for a sharp exit. Time for a Harp”: A lizard finds the sand “hot, hot, hot”, thus echoing a famous Pepsi commercial, and disappears underground. A middle-aged woman looks at a marriage institute’s selection of eligible men on her video and turns out to be quite choosy. What she didn’t expect, however, is that one of the video images proves to have a mind of its own, preferring a “sharp exit” to being ogled by the lady. The third commercial from this campaign is a spoof on the famous British commercials for Gold Blend coffee, which feature a couple of amorous neighbors.
