VISION-S

Sony, in-house, Tokyo

[2.20.002]

More Info

The future is near. Tech companies are getting increasingly involved in
determining what the future of the car looks like. Sony has unveiled the
Vision-S, a futuristic prototype car that comes loaded with sensors for
monitoring its passengers and surroundings and a huge infotainment
system with spatial audio. This is an expansion into the car industry
for Sony, which in the past has made cameras and sound systems for
vehicles, but never before made a car.

Masashi Kawamura: “Similar to the Toyota city, the idea of Sony using its
core strength in tech to create a car is a fascinating concept (although it‘s
just a prototype and video for now, and I doubt if they will ever actually
build it). Big brands crossing over industry genres may have become a
bit of a trend now.”
