In these two commercials for the new Golf, we see no tough guys sitting behind the wheel. This time around, Volkswagen is relying on the subconscious of its target group, whose trust in the safety of the car is felt even in their sleep. In the first spot, we are witness to a highly successful swerving maneuver as a truck cuts in front of the Golf. The driver himself is not aware of the car’s reaction until long after he has been driving straight ahead once again. Tagline: Reacts quicker than you do. The young lady in the second spot, who is put into a trance following a hypnosis show, still seems to know where one can go to escape the earthquake “suggested” to her: the Golf parked in front of her house
