VW Volkswagen Vento

DDB, Copenhagen

[4.92.058]

More Info

“Plough,” “Bicycle,” “Kindergarden,” “Night” + “Slides” [00:30]#
One of the most amusing teaser campaigns in recent years. What we see looks like home videos featuring such mundane subjects as a farmer plowing his field and grandpa trying out his new bicycle. Suddenly, somewhere in the background, the blurry phantom of a white vehicle can be spotted – if one looks closely. The VO exhorts the viewers ot call a certain telephone number if they can provide and information about the unidentified car. Apparently, some people do call in and the result is the spot “Kindergarten,” in which a little girl proudly shows a drawing of mysterious car. The drawing looks the way a child’s drawing of a car tends to look and is thus less than helpful in solving the mystery. In “Night,” we get at least an indication of whom the manufacturer of the car may be when an electric VW sign briefly lights up in the dark night. In the final spot, the mystery has been solved and we are shown slides that present the car in all its glory it is the new VW Vento.
