“Insights” [01:00], “Prowl” [00:30] + “Feet” [00:20]# In short segments that start with hand-lettered titles, “Insights” presents a series of common beliefs about cats which are partly contradicted by what follows: “Cats are independent” shows a cat on a leash – yet it looks more as if it’s the cat taking its owner for a walk than the other way around. “Cats hate water” shows a man giving his cat a bath. “Cats are predators” features a mouse chasing a cat. “Cats hate dogs” shows a little cat that takes shelter from the rain underneath a gig dog. And finally, “Cats love new Whiskas,” which has a cat walk past a bowl of Whiskas at first, though it soon returns to tuck in. Title: “Phew.” The second spot shows a cat on a nocturnal prowl while the Andrews Sisters’ “Tico, Tico” is playing on the soundtrack. As it turns out, the cat is headed for a neighbour’s who keeps Whiskas in store. The final Whiskas spot in our selection consists of slo-mo images of cats landing on their feet. Some, we learn, manage to do this better than others. Cut to a cat landing next to a bowl of Whiskas. Claim: “New Whiskas. With added catisfaction.
